Title: Coordinator, Development and Public Outreach
Reports to: Executive/Artistic Director (ED/AD)
Status: Exempt

Kids Excel El Paso, Inc. (KEEP) is in search of a Coordinator of Development and Public
Outreach (CDPO). The CDPO will oversee the execution of the philanthropic campaigns of the nonprofit organization, including fundraising, special events, donor relations, grant writing, volunteer management, and administrative duties that support organizational goals. The CDPO will work with internal staff, the Board of Directors, vendors, and partner districts to support the development and implementations of KEEP’s initiatives.

The selected candidate for this position will join a community of dedicated arts education and administrative professionals who are committed to artistic excellence, access to the arts, and the social and emotional wellness and success of children in underserved communities. KEEP is committed to ongoing and sustained equity and inclusion work.

Essential Functions:

  • Together with ED/AD and Board Development Committee, work to retain and expand our philanthropic relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Secure a minimum of 5 new major donors per year, to include corporate, individual, and foundation
  • With the leadership team, Development Committee and Board of Directors, create individual donor cultivation plans with clear action and follow up
  • Manage and execute all annual giving campaigns
  • Coordinate “Come Watch Us Dance” Initiative together with Board of Directors and ED/AD
  • Assist Associate Director with Annual “Thank You” project
  • Work with ED/AD to maintain donor database
  • Track all correspondence for donors and potential donors

Grant Management:

  • Manage the organization’s grant calendar to ensure all LOIs, grant applications, attachments and reports for all funders are prepared and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Research and secure new funding opportunities for the organization
  • Assist ED/AD with grant writing

Special Events:

  • Lead logistics efforts for all fundraising events
  • Lead “Friends of Kids Excel” and other volunteer committees relative to Plaza

Theatre Gala and any other special events

  • Generate invitation lists, Track RSVPs, and secure and manage all underwriting, to include individual and corporate gifts
  • Work with AD/ED and Graphic Designer to create program for Plaza Theatre

Gala Performance

Public Outreach:

  • Work with AD/ED and Graphic Designer to develop marketing materials, newsletters, brochures, press kits, etc.
  • Write Press Releases and cultivate local press coverage
  • Work with Graphic Designer to ensure that website donor listing/corporate logos are current and all donors are correctly and appropriately recognized
  • Create donor recognition timeline for KEEP social media outlets, work with

Graphic Designer to create and post “Donor Spotlight” graphics

  • Remain connected to artistic programs through site visits and other opportunities
  • With ED/AD and Associate Director, host visitors at “Come Watch Us Dance” events in partner schools

Please have the following qualifications to apply:

  • At least 5 years of paid work experience in nonprofit fundraising/development
  • At least 3 years paid work experience managing special events and volunteers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – specifically Drive, shared calendars, and email
  • Experience with Donor Perfect or comparable CRM is highly desirable

Working Conditions:

  • Position requires the Employee to perform functions in a variety of environments
  • COPD position is a full-time position with a flexible work schedule as arranged and agreed upon by the AD/ED
  • Exempt employees may be asked to work beyond the normal work week/hours to meet deadlines or for special events
