Cheryl was raised in El Paso where she graduated from Irving High School and UTEP with a BBA in Marketing and Finance. While in school, she enjoyed dancing with the Golddiggers, Viva El Paso, and for Miss Texas, Miss California and Miss USA competitions as a feature dancer. She also taught dance at the YWCA. Cheryl taught dance and fitness while living for the last 15 years with her husband and children in Central and South America. Upon their return to El Paso, she trained for her first marathon. As a child, Cheryl found learning in the traditional academic environment challenging, but dance taught her that she could excel at anything if she worked hard, never gave up, and always did her best. These three fundamental principals are the foundation of Kids Excel training, so when Cheryl observed a KEEP class at Aoy Elementary, she was anxious to join the skilled team of professional artists trained to provide Kids Excel programming. She finds it particularly rewarding to watch the arts make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children in El Paso.
