Aimee began her formal dance training in 2001 at New Mexico State University. She graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Under Debra Knapp, Aimee trained in Modern Dance technique; focusing on the influences of Irmgard Bartenieff and Bill Evans, along with an emphasis on dance education and facilitating education through the arts. She was a principal dancer with the New Mexico State University Dance Ensemble, a contemporary dance company for four years. Aimee worked in elementary schools in Las Cruces, NM, teaching in the classroom and for after-school enrichment programs. She has been an Ace Certified Group Fitness Instructor since 2003 and currently works as a private fitness contractor. At this time she is choreographing for and dancing with Cor Ignus, the contemporary dance company where she is Assistant Artistic Director. Aimee joined Kids Excel’s staff in 2006 and finds the work an exciting extension of her desire to educate children through the arts.
