Our curriculum focus for the 2007-2008 school year was on Physical Science and Albert Einstein, and incorporated many scientific concepts and the vocabulary words taken from the fourth grade science textbooks. Dancers were constantly challenged to come to logical conclusions based upon the information that they have. For example, dancers mimicked the behavior of particles by standing close together in rigid formation and vibrating to emulate a solid, or moving around the other particles to take the shape of a container like a liquid, and then moving quickly to fill up an enclosed space like a gas. Once the children have had an opportunity to behave like particles, they tend to have a much better fundamental understanding of scientific postulates from which most modern scientific theorems are derived.
The End-of-the-Year Event, called Its All Relative, Mr. Einstein explored the life and lessons of Albert Einstein.
