Jack was born and raised in Poplar Bluff, MO. Serving in the U.S. Army he was stationed in El Paso TX and upon his discharge as a lieutenant he decided to settle in El Paso and opened his first service station, Jacks Super Service. In 1961 Jack sold Jacks Super Service and purchased the El Paso Truck Terminal. In 1965 El Paso Truck Terminal was moved to Interstate 10 and continued in operation until 2008.
In 1975 the Cadillac of all truck stops, Petro #1 was built in El Paso, TX. This truck stop reshaped the entire truck stop industry. Jack sold the Petro truck stop network in 2007.

Jack reinforced his leadership in the industry through various activities. He served as Chairman of the National Association of Truck Stop Operators from 1982-1983 and as Chairman of the fund raising branch of NATSO, the NATSO Foundation. NATSO bestowed their distinguished member award on Jack in 1996.
Jack has served on a number of local and national boards, including State National Bancshares, Archstone-Smith and is Director Emeritus of El Paso Electric Company. Jack is past Chairman of the Board of the El Paso International Airport and past Chairman of El Paso Industrial Development Corporation. Currently Jack sits on the boards of Borderplex Community Trust and Kids Excel El Paso.
Jack is married, the father of three, and grandfather of 7. |
